PREVALENCE OF SUCKING INSECTS AND THEIR NATURAL ENEMIES ON OKRA PLANTS TREATED WITH BIO-RATIONAL INSECTICIDES

ABSTRACT: The study was conducted in the experimental field of the Department of Entomology, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University (BSMRAU), Gazipur-1706 to evaluate the efficacy of seven bio rational insecticides against sucking pests (jassid, aphid and whitefly) on okra variety BARI Dherosh 2. The study was comprised of seven bio rational treatments vtz. Bio-Clean 5 SL (De- limonin) @1ml L-1 water, Biomax M 1.2 EC (Abamectine) @1ml L-1 water, Phytoclean (Potassium salt of fatty acid 40%) @10ml L-1 water, Bio-Action 1.5 SL (matrine) @3ml L-1 water, Spinomax 44.03 SC (Spinosad) @1ml L-1 water, Phytomax (Azadiractin 0.1%) @ 5ml L-1 water and Biotrin 0.5 AS (Matrine) @1ml L-1 water. The bio rational insecticides were applied six times at seven days interval during the okra growing season. Among the tested bio rational insecticides Biotrin 0.5 AS (matrine) @1ml L-1 water after 24, and 72 hours of application resulted the lowest jassid, aphid and whitefly abundance. Biotrin 0.5 AS (Matrine) @1ml L-1 water had greater effect on jassid, aphid and whitefly revealed significantly lower levels of leaf infestation by number.
